ORIGINAL SINNER

Humility is the key to truth, in all things. For it is the very means by which we break down all barriers of pride, which lie between us and where we ought to be. When we make ourselves lowly; when we recognize that we are in error; when we acknowledge that our own will, power, and understanding is insufficient, we become ready to see Him Who Is Truth.

As you read the following 10 passages from the Holy Bible, search your heart, look deeply into your self; contemplate and meditate on these things spoken of by the Saints—make yourself lowly, that the Lord may exalt you in due time.

“Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.”

Holy Bible, 1 Peter 5:5-6, NKJV

“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

Holy Bible, James 4:6-10, NKJV

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”

Holy Bible, Colossians 3:12-13, NKJV

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name.”

Holy Bible, Philippians 2:5-9, NKJV

“For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Holy Bible, Luke 14:11, NKJV

“[Jesus] said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.'”

Holy Bible, Matthew 18:3-4, NKJV

“For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: ‘I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.'”

Holy Bible, Isaiah 57:15, NKJV

“My child, perform your tasks with humility; then you will be loved by those whom God accepts. The greater you are, the more you must humble yourself; so you will find favor in the sight of the Lord.”

Holy Bible, Sirach 3:17-18, NRSV

“By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life.”

Holy Bible, Proverbs 22:4, NKJV

“When He avenges blood, He remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble.”

Holy Bible, Proverbs 9:12, NKJV
