St. Athanasius of Alexandria (296 — 373 AD) was the 20th Pope of Alexandria. Often called the “Father of Orthodoxy,” Athanasius is known to be the greatest defender of the doctrine of the Holy Trinity, against the Arians at the Council of Nicaea.
